Shortcake Cupcake recipe

  

We made these adorable (and tasty!) "shortcakes" using our  Sweet Cream Cupcake recipe! Bake the recipe in a greased 9-inch square cake pan. Cut squares of cake and add your favorite vanilla frosting and colorful red and black gummy berries! Best thing is, you can make them anytime of the year since the gummy fruit is always in season! Serve in foil pans or on bright paper plates...everyone will want to stack their own! Try the same recipe with frosting and fresh berries for a delicious summer flavor! 

 

World Aids Day - December 1st, 2009

 

December 1st, 2009 is World Aids Day. We are showing our support by making red awareness lollipops using Make n' Mold's Awareness Ribbon mold (#0233); use our instructions from our October 21st, 2009 post (in the RECIPES and TREATS Categories-Awareness Ribbon Lollipops) to make your own. When the lollipops had completely cooled, we removed them from the mold and brushed them with clear corn syrup, then sprinkled them with red and white sugar crystals. Allow to dry thoroughly before you package them...Be sure to check your local community for ways you can be involved in World Aids Day 2009.

Ice Cream Cone with Candy craft project

A Second Look

A gift mug is not the only thing you can decorate with candy! We found these adorable ice cream cone cups at our local dollar store and then found hard candies in ice cream flavors to decorate them! To make your own Ice Cream Cone Candy Gift, go to our May 09, 2009 Gift Mug with Candy post in the PROJECTS-CRAFTING Category and download the instructions. Follow the instructions for the mug, but use an ice cream cone shaped dish in its place. You may need a larger diameter styrofaom ball to fit into the dish. Use your favorite flavor of candy, or vary the assorment to the receipient's taste...we added a ribbon bow in suitable colors at the base, and finished an ice cream scoop off with a gift tag and bow. Don't worry about this ice cream gift melting...if it is around that long!

To make the gift tag like ours, download and print a copy of our template (there are two different colored tags on the page) onto white cardstock. Cut out the tag with decorative scissors. Glue white tag onto colored paper and allow to dry; trim paper around tag. Glue to a second color of paper and allow to dry; trim paper. Attach tag to scoop with ribbon looped through a punched hole in the upper left corner.

Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Valentine Candies

A Second Look

We had such fun with our December 12, 2008 post, Chocolate Covered Marshmallow recipe, that we wanted to do something just as spectacular for Valentine's Day! To make the Valentine candies, go to our December 12, 2008 TREATS post and download the instructions. Follow the instructions using snowflake sprinkles and colored sugar, and omitting the peppermint oil; then simply add a classic candy conversation heart and cinnamon candies to the top before the chocolate cools. You can make other candies, like we did, by dipping the bottoms of some marshmallows in chocolate, and using the same idea, sprinkling snowflakes and sugar on the molten chocolate, topping each one off with a dab of chocolate and either a cinnamon candy or coversation heart. Be sure to give them to your sweetheart soon--they won't last long!
