The Gentleman's Fancy block has posted in our Benjanin Franklin Mystery Quilt project! This block marks the nineteenth 12-inch block in the project making it the next to the last block...there is only 1 more planned 12-inch block in the series...and we will begin posting the finishing instructions!
There will be two sets of instructions to finish the quilt; Traditional and Non-Traditional. The Traditional quilt will feature pieced sashing and borders while the Non-Traditional has no sashing. Although they look very different, each quilt has an appeal all its own and we will be sure to include all of the yardages and cutting instructions with each set. The Traditional instructions will begin posting this December next February and the Non-Traditional as soon as the first has completed: because many of you are doing the project as it posts, we have deliberately not included exact dates to allow the flexibilty of breaking each set of finishing instructions into managable pieces. Later on, as the entire project finishes, we will add pages to the instructions that list all the block names, the order they appeared, our bibliography, Erik's comments, etc, so the project will be quite complete.
From here on, we feel, the fun really begins! Many of you have been following this quilt from the beginning and some of you have just joined in! We still have some surprizes for you--and lots more about Dr Franklin. We have field trips planned, a blog-tour, maybe an extra pattern or two...and more...all posting as we usually do; any Monday during the month that will continue to add depth to your Ben Franklin quilt experience. Do stay with us for the rest of the ride, won't you--it is not over just yet!
