These terrific Toms will look delicious on a holiday cookie platter--our use them as place cards at your festive dinner! Our step-by-step instructions will show you how easy these are to make!
You will need:
- large round cookies (ours are about 3-inches across)
- assorted colors of candy corn
- decorator icing in brown, light blue, yellow, red, and white*
- cake decorating tips: medium star, large round and small round
*Use your favorite icing recipe tinted in the correct color. We suggest using paste food colors in the colors listed. For the brown icing we used chocolate. Use a clean decorator bag and tip for each icing color.
Decorate each cookie:
With the large round decorator tip, pipe a half circle around the outside of the cookie. Pipe a heavy line since this will hold the candy corn "feathers".
While the icing is still damp, add the candy corn pieces as shown, pressing into icing. Use as many kernels as you like, in what ever colors you can find.
With the medium star tip, fill in the middle of the cookie with brown icing. This is the body of the turkey.
With the medium star tip, pipe a blue 'S' shape for the turkey's neck. To make a successful 'S' practice once or twice on a clean plate, starting with more pressure and lightening as you reach the bottom of the 'S'.
With the small round tip, pipe a yellow dot pulling it downward for the beak.
With small round tip, pipe a white dot just above the beak for the eye. Allow to dry before you try to add the pupil...
With the small round tip, pipe a brown dot on top of the dry white dot for the pupil.
With a small round tip, pipe a red squiggle for the turkey's snood; your turkey is now ready for the Thanksgiving fun!
For the place card, we simply cut a piece of colored cardstock; handwrote the name and ripped the end.
