I am the first one to admit that I dread making bows...I have a very hard time getting them to turn out "just so" yet I will go out of my way to find just the right ribbon for any project needing a bow...and then I will probably never get to finishing the project simply because; it needs a bow!
Then I met the BowDabra! I was hoping to find a bright pretty Holiday plaid bow, pre-made, to finish an upcoming Christmas centerpiece post. I could not find anything that was narrow enough, Christmas-y enough, nor pretty enough. I was forced to face the fact I was going to have to make my own bow. I mean, I can make a nice bow, but with a certain amount of concentration involved.
And that is when I saw the BowDabra! I picked up the box for a quick scan...It sounded good...it looked easy enough...the photos were good...could it all be true?! Could I, he who hates to make bows, ENJOY it?! I decided right then and there to give this gadget a shot!! After all, if it worked, I may have discovered Nirvana.
I took the package home, popped the BowDabra out of the box, and was so excited about the very thought of making my own bows, that I didn't watch the DVD included (sorry!), and only slightly glanced over the written directions! It was like I had won a "major award"! I took some ribbon a friend had given me, my Christmas plaid, and set out to make my bow. Quickly I discovered that there was a right-side and a wrong-side to the ribbon. Although the instructions were clear the first time around, I would have to read the instruction booklet a little more closely now...so back to the instructions I went, found the detailed spot, and started my bow over again--tied the ribbon with the supplied wire and got amazing results! I MADE A GREAT BOW!! ME!! IN NO TIME FLAT!! ON THE FIRST TRY!!
Since this first successful attempt, I have made a lot more bows--it's really addictive. I really recommend the BowDabra Bow Maker...to anyone and everyone who needs or wants to make splendid bows! It is the perfect help to make bows for a wedding, the Holidays, or even for gift packages. The kit comes with everything necessary to make a great bow-except the ribbon (obviously your own choice) as well as a 30-minute DVD (for those who are less excited to make their first bow!) Keep on the look-out for more of my bows...my bow-anxiety is practically cured...and there may be no stopping me now!
