Gluing buttons to card-stock proved to be quite a "sticky situation" as we found out while attempting to glue buttons onto our business card-tags! White glue was too thin and really curled the paper, and the tacky-type didn't hold the buttons very well once it had dried. As we turned our search to the craft stores, we found Martha Stewart Create/EK Success (two names we trust) Permanent Craft Glue at WALMART and decided to give it a try...
The label says that this clear glue has a strong permanent bond and can be used for a variety of applications. It is acid free and is non-toxic.
We were delighted with this glue! We used it, not just for the buttons, but also to hold the ribbon strip on the bottom of our tags. We loved the fine-tip applicator point that allowed us to place a very thin line of glue right where we wanted it. Although we are not sure this would be the best glue for paper (it wrinkled some papers during our test), we really suggest it for adhering multi-media projects and scrap-booking memorabilia.
Words of caution: it does take time to dry; we let our buttons dry overnight. The bond seems really strong and therefore, worth the wait! You may also want to include adult supervision with children as this glue may get messy and after all, it is permanent. Since the glue is permanent, we strongly advise cleaning up immediately after use, while the glue is still wet with warm soapy water.
We highly recommend Martha Stewart Create/EK Success Permanent Craft Glue. Look for glue in a 4 oz tube in the craft section at WALMART nationwide.
As always, we suggest trying this glue, before you proceed on your own project, just to be sure you like it as much as we did.
