Fat Eighth-half of one quarter a of a yard cut (roughly 9-inches by 22 inches); traditionally one quarter of a yard cut on the fold to yield two pieces about 9"x22".
"Finished" (measurements)-the size of a quilt block once it is sewn into the project; less seam allowances that sew the block into the project. See also "Unfinished" (measurements). 9 x 9-inches finished=9 1/2 x 9 1/2-inches unfinished.

Seam Allowance-the alotted measurement added to any part of a pattern piece that is needed to feed the fabric through the sewing machine; the distance between the stitched line and the outer edge of the fabric. For our quilting patterns, 1/4-inch, unless otherwise noted, is already included. An accurate seam allowance is necessary for the success of the pattern.
Selvedge-the finished edges of a fabric.
Stitch-and-Flip-a quilting technique where the fabric is stitched RST, then flipped over right-side-up.
SASE-Self Addressed Stamped Envelope
