It is always an event at Erik Homemade (R) when we take photos for an upcoming post! Our chocolate covered marshmallows that we will be posting soon in the Treats Category is no exception! We had a wonderful time putting these little beauties in paper cups, candy boxes, and of course, in a mug of cocoa! Take a look behind the scenes...
Here are some of the marshmallows ready to be packed into a candy box. They look like little petits-fours! Who would believe at first glance they are marshmallows?! The beautiful sugars and decorations that make the marshmallows special are from India Tree Gourmet Spices and Specialties.
Erik gets involved putting the little treats into paper candy cups...he probably ate two or three in the process. "Quality Control" he calls it...we think it is a perk of the job! The white chocolate marshmallows are lightly flavored with peppermint (Erik also like peppermint; that might explain it!)...
Filling the candy box was trickier than expected! We thought six marshmallows would fit in one box, but once covered in chocolate and sprinkled with sugar, then placed in a candy cup, only four would fit comfortably. As they say, "the best laid plans...", so we have to remain flexible.
We had to work quickly to take as many photos as we could; the studio lights throw off a lot of heat and we didn't want to candies to melt in the process. Between photos the candies were moved to a cooler side of the room and the lights were turned as to not face the shooting table. Finally, we thought we had enough photos! Since we only use one finished photo for the instruction sheet/cookbook page, we have to narrow it down and find the right photo that conveys mood, idea, instruction, and detail. These photos are only a few of the rejected ones. Some photos shout Eureka! while others are more descreet and must be discovered. (Check back soon to get the instructions to make our chocolate covered marshmallows and to see which photo we chose!)
