Make these napkins quick as a wink! Simply embellish one corner of cloth napkins in your favorite Halloween colors by raiding your botton box for black and white buttons. Your Halloween dinner guests will agree - the eyes certainly have it!
For each napkin you will need
1 cloth napkin, washed and pressed
buttons of your choice-we used smaller black buttons for pupils, and larger white buttons for whites-we also found black and white buttons that already looked like eyes!
hand quilting thread to match pupil buttons
washable glue stick
Position large white buttons in desired position, near one corner. Secure to napkin with glue stick. With a hot iron, gently press the back of the napkin, over the button, to set the glue so that the
needle and thread do not get sticky. From the right side of napkin, position black pupil button on top of adhered white button and sew through both button holes using knotted hand quilting thread. Repeat for remaining white/black buttons. We sewed three pairs of eyes, always in one lower corner, to each napkin.
**We suggest using hand quilting thread because it resists twisting while sewing through the buttons. We found it easier to sew one set of buttons (eye) at a time, going through the button holes three times per hole.
Do not be afraid to experiment with different colors of buttons for your own, spookier look! Have fun!
