Savory Baked Round Steak recipe

Easy, quick, delicious, thrify!

Preheat oven to 350-degrees F. On a large sheet of heavy aluminum foil, place a piece of round steak, large enough to feed your family. Sprinkle liberally with dry onion soup mix. Close foil (folding to seal) making a packet. Place on a jelly roll pan or a cookie sheet with sides, and bake for 1 hour.

Wonderful with baked or mashed potatoes!

Hot Dog Hot Dish recipe

Hot diggity-Dawg! Quick and tasty...uses up left-overs!

2 slices bacon
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1/2 cup water
1/2 tspn salt
dash of black pepper
3 cups cooked potato, sliced
1 cup cooked green beans
1/2 lb hot dogs, sliced 1/2-inch thick

Preheat oven to 350-degrees F. In a medium skillet, fry bacon; remove and crumble. In pan drippings, fry onion. When tender, add soup, water and seasonings; heat trhough. Add potatoes, beans, and hot dog pieces; pour into 8 x 8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle bacon over the top. Bake 30 minutes.

Serves: 4 

Big Biscuit Hamburger Bake recipe

Great for the kids on a busy night...

1 lb gound beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can condensed cream of vegetable soup, any flavor, undiluted
1/2 tspn oregano
salt and pepper

1 cup biscuit mix
1/2 cup milk

Preheat oven to 450-degrees F. In a large skillet, brown beef and onion. Drain, if necessary. Stir in soup and seasonings. Pour into 8 x 8 baking dish. Blend biscuit mix and milk; spread over meat mixture. Bake 15-20 minutes, or until biscuit is slightly golden.

Serves: 4

 

Chili Hamburger Casserole recipe

Cowboy-style...add chopped green pepper, or salsa, if you reckon!

1 lb hambuger
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cans tomato sauce
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 cup macaroni, cooked and drained
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon chili powder, or to taste
salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 350-dgrees F. Brown onion and hamburger in a medium skillet. Add all other ingredients in and 8 x 8-inch baking dish. Bake 90 minutes. Add shredded cheese to top, if desired.

Serves: 4-6

Quick Banana Milk Shake recipe

Quick like a bunny, quick!

1 fully ripe banana
1 cup cold milk
2 tblspns crushed ice
nutmeg, if desired

Peel banana; place in blender container. Add milk and ice; blend well on medium speed. Sprinkle with nutmeg, if desired.

Yield: 1 large/2 small shakes

Mayonnaise Muffins recipe

Quick and impressive! Tastes more like a moist biscuit!

1 1/4 cup self-rising flour
3 tblspns mayonnaise (the 'real' kind)
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 400-degrees F. Mix ingredients in order listed. Spoon into large, greased mufin tins. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until done.

Serves: 6-7 cupcake-size muffins

Easy-Breezy Beef Tips in Mushroom Sauce recipe

Easy...so easy...could even be adapted to the slow cooker!

2 lb lean chuck, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiltued
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
1 cup lemon-lime soda (7-Up/Sprite/etc)

Preheat oven to 275-degrees F. Place meat in 2-quart casserole (no need to season). Pour soup over meat; sprinkle dry soup mix on top. Add soda and cover casserole. Bake 4 hours--do not open oven door during cooking! After 4 hours, remove meat and let stand covered 30 minutes before serving. Excellent with rice!

Soup-er EZ Tetrazzini

Who knew it could be so simple!

1 can cream of chicken soup plus 1/2 cup water 

1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 1/2 cups chicken, cooked and diced
2 cups spaghetti, cooked and drained
1 2oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
2 tbspns chopped parsely

In a saucepan, blend soup, water, and cheese. Heat slowly until cheese melts; stirring often. Blend in remaining ingredients. Heat stirring often. Fresh musrooms maybe used.

Slow Cooker Barbeque Polish Sausage recipe

Make it extra economical--buy the ingredients on sale!

2 lbs polish sausage, smoked or plain
3 cups of your favorite barbeque sauce

Slice the sausage into 1-inch lengths, then in half. Place cut sausage into a cold slow cooker and add barbeque sauce. Cook on HIGH for 15 minutes, then on LOW 4-5 hours. Serve, as desired, while hot.

Great game-day food, appetizer, main dish, or side dish!

Thrifty Steak with Rich Gravy recipe

Inexpensive, economical, and oh so tasty!

2-2 1/2lb round steak
1/4 cup water
1 1.5oz package onion soup mix
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup

Cut steak into 5-6 serving-size pieces. Place into cold slow-cooker. Add water, onion soup mix, and cream of mushroom soup. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours. Serve with potatoes.
