Pink Stuff Gelatin Salad recipe

Very Pink! Very tasty!

• 1 (3oz) package strawberry gelatin
• 1 (15 or 20oz) can crushed pineapple
• 1 cup water
• 12oz small curd cottage cheese
• 8oz carton whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

In a large saucepan, boil together strawberry gelatin, pineapple and water to a boil. Pour into a bowl and refrigerate overnight until firm. In a large bowl, mix together cottage cheese and whipped topping. Add chilled gelatin mixture; blend thoroughly. Chill until set. Serve ice cold.

Easy-Breezy Ambrosia Fruit Salad recipe

Easy and sweet...right from the pantry!

• 2 (11oz) cans mandarin oranges, drained
• 1 1/2 cup shreeded coconut
• 2 cups miniature marshmallows
• 2 cups dairy sour cream
• 1 (10oz) jar marachino cherries, drained
• 10-12oz canned pineapple pieces, drained

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients and chill for at least 6 hours. Serve cold.

Creamy Apricot Salad recipe

Cool salad for hot days!

• 2 small packages apricot or peach gelatin
• 1 cup boiling water
• 2 cups dairy sour cream
• 1 large carton whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
• 1 small can cruched pineapple with juice
• 1 small can mandrin oranges with juice

Dissolve gelatins in boiling water and let cool. Using a wire whip, beat in sour cream and whipped topping. Stir in the pineapple and oranges, including juice, and mix thoroughly. Pour into a large flat pan and chill until firm. Cut into squares to serve.

Serves: 15-20 small squares. 

Easy-Easy Watergate Salad recipe

Super easy...thanks to a few short cuts!

1 small box instant pistachio pudding mix

1 medium can crushed pineapple, undrained

1 cup pecans, chopped fine

1 cup miniature marshmallows

1 large container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Combine pudding mix and pineapple with juice. Mix well. Add reamining ingredients and mix well. Chill.

Serves: 6-8

 

 

Hoseradish Salad recipe

Nice and hot...delicious with beef or ham!

• 1 small box lemon gelatin
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon vinegar
• 1/2 pint whipping cream, whipped
• 1 bottle horseradish

In a large bowl dissolve gelatin as directed on package. Add salt and vinegar. Chill until partially set; whipe the cream and add horseradish blending well. Gently fold into partially set gelatin. Pour into mold, if desired (or use shallow pan). Chill until set, or overnight. Garnish with fresh parsely, if desired.

Serves: 4-6

Sweet Strawberry Salad recipe

Sweet...A great side salad for the buffet...

• 1 1/2 cups boiling water
• 1 large box strawberry gelatin
• 10 oz package frozen strawberries
• 1 small can of crushed pineapple, undrained
• 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
• 1 small carton dairy sour cream

Dissolve gelatin packet in boiling water; add frozen fruit. Stir to gently break up fruit. Congeal slightly-about 5 minutes in refrigerator. Add pineapple, nutmeats, and fold in sour cream. Chill overnight in bowl or mold. Unmold before serving, if necessary.

Serves: 4-6

Sweet and Sour Vegetable Salad recipe

Sweet and Tang-ee! Make it fresh!

Salad:

• 1 lb can of french-cut green beans, drained
• 1 lb can peas, drained
• 1 cup celery, chopped
• 1 small jar pimentos, drained
• 1 medium onion, chopped fine
• 1 medium green pepper, chopped fine

Sauce:

• 3/4 cup white sugar
• 1/4 salad oil
• 1/2 cup vinegar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon water
• a few spinkles of ground black pepper and paprika

In a large bowl combine salad ingredients. In a small bowl mix together sauce ingredients; blend well. Pour sauce over vegetables, toss lightly. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Drain before serving.

Serves: 4-6

Carrot and Marshmallow Ambrosia Salad recipe

Tastes as sweet as Spring!

4 cups carrots, shredded

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 3.5 oz can flaked coconut

1 1/2 cups fresh orange sections

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup dairy sour cream

3 tbspns honey

miniature marshmallows

In a large bowl, stir together all ingredients. Add miniature marshmallows to taste.

Serves 6-8

Cooked Slaw recipe

Crunchy and Crisp!...use bacon grease instead of oil--if you want even more delicious flavor!

2 cups cabbage, chopped

1 cup green pepper, chopped

1 cup onion, chopped

1 cup carrots, shredded

2 tomatoes, diced

5-6 tbspns oil, (or to taste), or use bacon grease

salt and pepper, to taste

Season with any type of oil desired (or bacon grease), salt, and pepper. Add NO water. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Should be crisp. Store in refrigerator.

Serves 4-6

Christmas Gelatin Salad recipe

Very pretty for the Holidays

1 small pkg lime gelatin dissolved in 3/4 cup hot water. When cool add 1 cup commercial sour cream. Add 1/2 cup crushed pineapple; 1/4 cup marachino cherries, and 1/4 cup chopped nuts. Pour into mold or glass bowl; chill until set. When firm, serve on lettuce leaf and a dollop of mayonnaise.

Serves: 6-8
