Kind of classic, best made a day ahead!
1 6oz can tomato paste
1 tspn dry mustard
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tspn salt
dash of chili powder, or to taste
1 tblspn Worchestershire sauce
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1/4 cup vinegar
2 tbspns water
2 tspns lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat over medium flame to a boil, stirring often. Remove from heat; let stand several hours at room temperature to blend flavors.
Yield: 1 1/2 cups
